Challenge C – Substantive Post #1

Resource – BCcampus OpenEd Resources – Learning about, and experiencing, open educational practices

As someone with a background in education and currently working in the field, I thought it would be rather important for me to find an open education resource that relates to this. So I found a resource called BCcampus, with the above graphic showing just a snippet of the site as well as the link below for getting to the home page. The graphic demonstrates the number of institutions, students and faculty that use it as well as how much savings students can save using this resource. It’s a substantial amount! What I really like about this resource is that it is relevant and applicable as it is all information that would pertain to BC students as well as educators.

One feature I found really handy while navigating this resource was the page that had its materials sorted by subject. The graphic above (link below it) depicts subjects ranging from art to math to social studies as well as other areas of information such as trades or even criminal justice. I really like how neatly laid out everything is and below is an example of what you see when you click on one of them (I clicked health and medical).

Overall, I think this a great resource and provides a great foundation for any students or educators looking to find more information on particular topics in a more affordable way. There are just so many high costs these days associated with finding information and this resource provides a much more affordable way for learners to learn as well as educators to educate!
